Matt was born and raised in Central New York and attended Crown College in Minnesota, where he played football and baseball, met the love of his life, Shellie, and sensed God calling him into pastoral ministry.
Matt and Shellie have been married for 32 years and have raised three daughters together. After serving churches in Wyoming, Washington, and Minnesota, their ministry journey eventually brought them full-circle back to Baldwinsville.
In 2011, Matt returned home to help restart what is now New Hope Church. As a pastor, Matt’s passion is helping people discover what it means to follow Jesus together—loving God completely, loving one another correctly, and loving our neighbors compassionately. #UpInOut
When he’s not pastoring, Matt enjoys being outdoors, finding a new Jeep trail, creating music, and playing ice hockey.
